A Different Measure of Wealth

Birthdays have a way of making you stop for a moment and take stock—not just of where you’ve been, but of what seems to matter more as the years go by.

The older I get, the more my idea of wealth seems to change.

Less about what you accumulate. More about time, experiences, the people you share them with, and being present enough to appreciate it while it’s happening.

Perhaps becoming a father has accelerated that shift.

Harrison and Jasper are growing up far more quickly than I’d like. The things they love today, the conversations we have, the places we explore together—they’re all little chapters that won’t last forever.

And I think that’s made me more conscious of something I’ve probably always known:

Time is one of the few things we can spend, but never earn back.

Standing at Elizabeth Quay with my two boys, with the Perth skyline behind us, felt like a pretty good reminder of that.

The city has changed enormously since I was growing up here.

So have I.

I’m still ambitious. Still curious. Still interested in property, investing, travel and whatever new idea happens to send me down a rabbit hole.

But increasingly, success feels less like reaching some distant destination and more like appreciating the life that’s happening along the way.

Life moves quickly.

They’re growing quickly.

Apparently, I am too. 😄

Feeling grateful for the journey so far—and curious about what the next chapter brings.
